這是一部另類的科幻電影，像片頭的旁白的那樣，這里不是地球，而是某個類似地球的星球，那里的文明進(jìn)化到了類似于地球上的歐洲中世紀(jì)。故事改編自 Strugatsky兄弟的小說，這個科幻的創(chuàng)意就是如果當(dāng)年沒有文藝復(fù)興，現(xiàn)在的歐洲文明又會是什么樣子？這個故事里，一群來自地球的科學(xué)研究人員被送往到那個星球，去引導(dǎo)那個社會的文明發(fā)展進(jìn)程，他們不得使用暴力，不得強(qiáng)行干預(yù)，只能引導(dǎo)，男主角像一位先知，也只是整部電影里行為舉止唯一正常的人，他在社會底層不斷的行走，去開化人們，電影就像紀(jì)錄片一樣跟著他的腳步由此展開。
